Obviously here at Laos Essential Artistry we are very passionate about Lao textiles, but we are equally passionate about Sinxay, a Lao, Buddhist, and some say Bodhisattva, cultural hero. We have translated the prose version of Sinxay into English over the last two years and one of our main goals now is to see that Sinxay is published in English so those who don't read Lao or French (the two languages Sinxay is currently published in) have access to this tremendous story. There will be more posts on Sinxay in our blog over the coming months.
If you can read Lao you might want to get a copy of the newly published edition of SangSinxay published by Dokked Publishing in Laos. SangSinxay contains the original poetic language written down by Pangkham in the mid 17th century. One of the three masterpieces of Lao literature!
Our first post about Sinxay was in regards to a Sinxay Day promoted by the Lao government that includes a video clip from the opening of the SEA games where Sinxay, of the new Era, shot a flaming arrow that lit the cauldron at the opening ceremonies.
