Almost all Hmong storycloths are sold with a backing and a border sewn on which of course makes them ready to display. But with the backing removed one can then look at the back (hidden) side of the storycloth and clearly see how these storycloths take a tremendous amount of work and artistry to embroider. Any storycloth you see and like for sale, whether it is here at Laos Essential Artistry or elsewhere is a bargain if you take into consideration the number of hours that it took for an anonymous Hmong woman artist to embroider that particular storycloth. With the two photos above you can see the same cloth from the front and the back and we hope you marvel, like we do, at the amazing talent of the Hmong women artists.
